Poems

Give To Me: by Tee Lowrey

Give to me the home front porch
Where we all sat and talked.
Give to me the turning bars
Which my big brother walked.
Give to me the "cubby holes"
Where hide and seek were played.
Give to me the Christmas trees
and root beer Mom made.

Give to me the forest groves and
Give to me the lake.
Give to me the winter walks, the
Chase of garden snakes.
Give to me the skating ponds, the
Honemade igloos! Boy!
Give to me the shopping sprees, the
past and all the joy.

Now is's ridiculous I know,
To beg these things return.
I know that it will nevr be,
No matter how I yearn
So I will tease along the thought,
And reminisce awhile.
And just so many tears won't fall,
I'll bank them up with a smile.

Tee Lowrey 1970, (My sister)

A Flower:

(1) While walking through a garden_--------------(3) Lonely, and sad for me
There I picked a beautiful rose------------------So I’ll walk again
Soon her petals hardened-------------------------And there I might see
Dropping to my toes--------------------------------A rose garden then

(2) Those memories of years;--------------------------(4) It is a pretty rose;
Of her beauty and charm:------------------------To hold in my hand:
some smiles some tears;-------------------------Until eternity I suppose;
Always holding her arm--------------------------While searching the land:

Life:

To Florida from Chicago
At a very young age
Yes we would go
To begin a new page

From Florida to Chicago
After a lost day
Back to the snow
And a job with pay

Many floors to sand
Five children to raise
Working hand and hand
An interesting phase

In a boat hours
Love for many years
Respect was ours
Now only days of tears

A partner:

(1) Why do I cry?------------------------------------------(5) Oh yesterday, oh yesterday;
More and more-----------------------------------------If you could return.
You gave me love;-------------------------------------Life can be the same;
And smiles you wore.--------------------------------I will try to learn.

(2) Why do I weep?----------------------------------------(6) I know I would;
Day after day.-------------------------------------------To keep us together;
Your gift to me;----------------------------------------Enjoying happy days;
was late to pay.-----------------------------------------Being with you forever.

(3) We laughed together;-----------------------------------(7) Come home my dear;
Our songs of love.--------------------------------------An impossible task.
We lived our lives;-------------------------------------Yet I dream;
Like two mourning doves.--------------------------It's you behind the mask

(4) Flying free up high;-------------------------------------(8) Come home, come home;
Returning to our nest;-------------------------------I beg of you.
To close one's eyes:-----------------------------------Even in dreams;
And hope for the best.--------------------------------I'll be happy too.

(9) Good-night my love;
You flower so tender.
Sleep quiet and still;
That's how I remember;

(10) The evening's so nice.
You smell so sweet;
being with you;
my day's a treat.

"Should You Go First" by A.K. Rowswell

(1) Should you go first and I remain-------------------(3) Should you go first and I remain
To walk the road alone---------------------------------To finish with the scroll,
I'll Live in memory's garden, dear,-----------------No length'ning shadows shall creep in
With happy days we've known.----------------------To make this live seem droll,
In spring I'll wait for roses red,----------------------We've known so much of happiness,
When fades the lilacs blue-----------------------------We've had our cup of joy,
In early fall, when brown leaves call--------------And memory is one gift of God
I'll catch a glimpse of you.----------------------------That death cannot destroy.

(2) Should you go first and I remain-------------------(4) Should you go first and I remain
For battles to be fought,-------------------------------One thing I'd have you to do:
Each thing you'e touched along the way--------Walk slowly down that long, lone path,
Will be a hallowed spot.--------------------------------For soon I'll follow you.
I'll hear your voice, I'll see your smile,----------I'll want to know each step you take
Through Blindly I may grope,----------------------That I may walk the same,
The memory of your helping hand---------------For some day down that lonely road
Will bouy me on with hope.-------------------------You'll hear me call your name.

I Did Not Die

Don't stand at my grave and weep;
I'm not there. I do not sleep.
I'm a thousands winds that blow.
I'm the diamond winks of the snow.
I'm the sun on the ripened grain.
I'm the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush;
I'm the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circld flight.
I'm the soft stars that shine at night.
Don't stand at my grave and cry.
I'm not there. I did not die.
